1400 years ago
Each Fang was a walled city within a city, complete with its own gates, streets, markets, and communities. Together, the 108 Fangs of Chang’an formed one of the largest and most sophisticated urban civilizations in human history.
Built around three palace cities, one imperial city, royal gardens, two great market cities, and 108 Fangs, it was home to over one million people and stood at the heart of the Tang world.
A vibrant crossroads of cultures, beliefs, and peoples, it was a city where countless stories came to life.
